A Balancing Color
To strengthen my personality profile and support areas of growth, I considered adding:
- Deep Red – to introduce boldness, confidence, and assertiveness.
- Teal/Turquoise – to enhance communication and courage in expressing boundaries.
These hues would enrich my soft, calming palette with a touch of strength and clarity, helping me better balance sensitivity with action.
Assignment 13B: Applying Color Concepts to Design
The second assignment asked us to create a design concept using color combinations, ideally based on our 13A palette. However, I initially misunderstood the instructions—I ended up working with the colors from the reference posters instead of building directly from my personal palette.
Despite the confusion, this was still an enjoyable and eye-opening experience. I played with layout, repetition, and the emotional tone of colors to see how different combinations affected the visual impact.
Lessons Learned:
- Clear instructions matter—but exploration can still yield insight.
- Even unfamiliar colors can communicate powerful ideas if used thoughtfully.
- Mistakes often lead to more personal growth than perfect execution.
Critique
Strengths
- I embraced experimentation even after misunderstanding the brief.
- I gained confidence in using color to express emotion visually.
- I developed a stronger intuition for layout and design rhythm.
Weaknesses
- I didn’t fully apply my personal palette to the designs.
- I could have created a more intentional narrative in the compositions.
